About Speed Words
Race to complete your word puzzle against your pals or your phone.
Speed Words is a fast-paced word game where players arrange their tiles into a cross-word / anagram puzzle. The faster you complete your puzzle, the faster your opponents are buried in tiles.
NEW in version 1.2.511 - login with Facebook and play your friends online! Speed Words also provides AI levels from easy to insane, and unique multi-player capabilities where two players play at the same time on the same device, as well as WiFi network play for up to 8 players!
No accounts/login required
1 or 2-player on a single device
Up to 8 simultaneous players in WiFi mode
Simultaneous, real-time action - not pass'n'play
Share your high-scores on Facebook
Rated medium maturity because AI might spell any word in the dictionary.
WiFi mode notes:
Please try wifi mode with the free demo app before purchasing! Not compatible with all wifi routers.
Network / wi-fi mode is 1 player per device, requires app on each device.
Both devices must be connected to the same wifi network.
Wifi game can't mix demo and paid version players.
Wifi mode is compatible between iOS and Android.
Many HTC phones have problems with wifi mode (EVO, G2, Sensation, Desire, Incredible, etc). These phones can't start a wifi game, but they can join a wifi game with other working devices.
How to play:
(Also see in-game tutorial)
You start with 7 letters
Make a cross-word puzzle by dragging your tiles onto the board
When you've used all your letters to form a cross-word puzzle on the board, draw another letter from the pile and your opponent(s) will also get another letter. If your opponent finishes, they'll draw from the pile and you'll get another letter.
The quicker you play, the quicker your opponent(s) will get buried in excess tiles.
Misspelled and non-contiguous words will flash red and block you from drawing
If you cannot play, you may trade a tile back into the pile, but it costs you 5 seconds
Once all tiles are used, the game ends and players are scored based on the word scores determined by individual letter scores. Unused letters count against your score.
Be aware - non-contiguous words and misspelled words count as unused letters, and may cause other words to become non-contiguous. Don't "break" your puzzle at the end of the game, only the largest contiguous region counts!

Known issues in version 1.2.519:
Sometimes at the end of a game, if you view a player's puzzle by tapping on their name, a menu can pop up and lock the game. The only workaround is to close the app (on an iPhone/iPad, tap the home button to exit, double-tap the home button to bring up the task manager, press and hold the Speed Words icon until an X appears, then tap the X to close the app). The fix for this issue is coming shortly.
About Us (or, What's Behind the App?)
Hi, I'm Jeff, aka Lil' Code Monkey. I'm an indie developer dabbling in Facebook
and mobile apps. I built Speed Words because my family and I enjoy the quick-thinking
variation of Hasbro's Scrabble® board game known as Take Two or Speed Scrabble. Plus I wanted to make
a game that friends and family could play together, hence all the multi-player modes.
I hope you enjoy it! Feel free
to leave me feedback using the contact us link.
But life isn't all fun and games - when you support me by buying my app and telling your friends about it, you're
supporting my family, as well as the things we believe in - like NicaBoys. They are
dedicated to helping kids in Masaya, Nicaragua get off the streets and recover from
glue addiction by providing shelter,
education, life skills, and hope. 30% of all proceeds from Speed Words goes directly
to NicaBoys.
